The future of the unique and diverse region of Northwest Mexico will ultimately be determined by the collaborative actions of the United States and Mexico. Having recognized this, the Sonoran Institute is working with local communities and government agencies on both sides of the U.S. – Mexico border to protect and enhance the distinctive character of the Sonoran Desert and Gulf of California region. A significant component of these efforts is our Colorado River Delta Legacy Program, which focuses on restoring environmental water flows to the Colorado River Delta and engaging communities in restoring riparian areas.
