Information:

Nina has an ongoing commitment to the Sonoran Institute, having served for one year as Interim Development Director and now as a corporate communications consultant in support of the Institute’s internal and external communications. She came to Tucson in 1976 for her job as a reporter and news anchor at KGUN-TV, where she won numerous national and local awards for her work both on and off air. In 1985 she left KGUN to develop and direct the news/communications department at the Arizona Health Sciences Center. While there, she served as spokesperson for the hospital when it became the focus of national and international attention for being the first to use an artificial heart as a bridge to transplant. In 1988 Nina formed her own company to handle the internal and external communications needs of her clients, something she pursued for 17 years before serving on the Tucson City Council, where for four years she focused on sustainable growth, revitalization of Downtown, integration of the fine arts in economic development planning, restructuring of the Land Use Code to enable adaptive reuse of old buildings, and fiscal responsibility. She has now returned to her consulting practice, where in addition to her work at the Institute, she handles clients including a large medical practice, a financial advisor, a music education program, and a new gelateria. Nina is the proud mother of two sons and grandmother to three young boys. She and her husband love to travel and take advantage of her ability to communicate in several languages, including Spanish, French, Italian and Russian. During the last three decades she has served on dozens of nonprofit boards in the Tucson area. She currently is a member of the Tucson Symphony Board and the Arizona Arthritis Center Advisory Board.
